12" Drill Press

Need some help. I have a Harbor Freight 12" drill press. The bit keeps getting bogged down and stops. I've tried to adjust everything on it. Any suggestions how to stop this? I've used all types of bits, hole, forstener bits, etc. Soft pine wood. I barely apply pressure. I've taken the Chuck off and re-inserted it, pulleys are all leveled, belt is evenly tightened. I can just barely hear some play in the spindle but can't seem to tighten it. Any suggestions?
